Origin and history

Laurel Core Analytics began in 2017 when founder Sora Bae — formerly a financial graphics specialist at a Seoul securities research house — relocated to Jeonju to establish a studio focused exclusively on sustainability disclosure visuals. The move reflected a conviction that ESG reporting deserved the same production rigour applied to earnings presentations, but with domain-specific chart conventions that generic design agencies rarely mastered.

Early commissions came from Jeollabuk-do manufacturers preparing their first standalone sustainability supplements. By 2019, the studio had expanded to serve KRX mid-cap filers and two international NGOs operating regional offices in Korea. The 2021 K-ESG framework launch increased demand for indicator-aligned graphics, prompting the studio to develop structured mapping templates for each assessment category.

Today, Laurel Core Analytics operates from a converted hanok annex near Jeonju-ro, employing four visual specialists, one data liaison, and a part-time colour-proofing technician. The studio completes roughly 40 commission cycles per year.

What we do

We receive validated metric data and disclosure outlines from sustainability teams, then produce finished chart sets, infographics, and layout-ready visual assets. Our work spans GRI Standards, SASB industry metrics, TCFD recommendations, and K-ESG indicator categories. We do not collect primary environmental data, perform assurance, or write narrative report copy — our contribution is visual production with audit-traceable figure annotations.

Working approach

Every commission begins with a metric audit: we trace each requested figure back to its source worksheet before selecting chart types. Revision cycles are bounded and documented — clients receive annotated PDFs showing exactly which data points changed between rounds. Colour palettes are tested for greyscale print fidelity and projector legibility before sign-off.

Values

Accuracy over ornament. Every decorative element must serve legibility or audit traceability. We decline commissions where clients ask us to visualise unverified data. We maintain confidentiality agreements standard to pre-disclosure reporting work.

Community

The studio hosts an annual open review session for Jeonju university sustainability programme students, demonstrating how disclosure metrics translate into chart conventions. We contribute chart template guidelines to the Jeollabuk-do SME sustainability working group.
